Design Studio C, Ltd. has over 13 years of experience in building for our clients. By keeping the architect involved throughout construction, we can be more responsive to any owner requests or unforeseen conditions in the field. We started with Construction Management Services back in 1999 for the Kids Dentist building in Grayslake. We have teamed with clients to develop and build two infill houses, as well as remodeling our own offices in three different locations, which helps our perspective from the owner, developer, and contractor points of view. We have provided Construction Management services to multiple clients, and most recently have begun providing Design/Build services to our clients. By acting as both Architect and General Contractor, we provide a single source of contact throughout your project from inception to completion.
Design Studio C, Ltd. provides General Contracting services through our sister company, Ruatha Development, LLC. Ruatha Development LLC, is a licensed General Contractor in Highland Park, Illinois and carries insurance well above most local requirements. Dog Run Addition
This sympathetic addition may look like a covered porch, but is actually a dog run! Design Studio C, Ltd. worked closely with the homeowners to determine their needs and create a handsome solution, from inception through completion. Our sister company, Ruatha Development was the general contractor, working with Elan Landscaping to integrate with the existing landscape.
Highland Park Addition and Remodel
Completed in December 2009, this lake side home received a new sun room and butler’s pantry on the first floor complemented by a completely remodeled second floor. The basement became the new recreation area which including a home office. All floors are accessible from the new elevator. Design Studio C, Ltd. and our sister company Ruatha Development, LLC worked together in this Architect-led Design Build project, in conjunction with SemmelSnow Interior Design, Inc.
Lake Forest Addition and Remodel
Completed in fall 2008, this 16,800 square foot home had 2,350 habitable square feet added without increasing the footprint or bulk, through creative use of dormers and finishing part of the existing 6 car garage. The house gained an entire bedroom suite, elevator, laundry room, a bathroom, and two new home offices for this busy family. The kitchen, master bath and mudroom entry were also completely remodeled. Design Studio C, Ltd. provided Construction Management services for this project.
Hunt Club Farms House
Design Studio C, Ltd. has done several different additions for this existing home throughout the years. They include a complete third story addition, new dining room, and most recently a complete three-car detached garage with office above. Design Studio C, Ltd. has also completed construction management for this project.
Antioch Lake House
Designed in 2004, this home was constructed and completed in the summer of 2005. Very little remains from the original structure, but the updated home features lovely views of the adjacent lake. Design Studio C, Ltd. handled construction management for this project as well.

Trade X Group / Kids Dentist
Our client required offices for multiple businesses – Trade X Group, Kids Dentist, and room for additional dental offices to provide full dental services in a single location. Design Studio C, Ltd. provided design and construction management services for the original building, and tenant improvements for Kids Dentist and Trade X Group in 2000. Later, Design Studio C, Ltd. provided design and construction management services for another dentist and orthodontist in the other suites. The dental offices were coordinated with Sullivan Schein.
